White Rock Lake engagement photos on the dock

Alec + Abigail

We met at the docks to start off Alec and Abigail’s White Rock Lake engagement session last week. These two prefer the outdoors so meeting at White Rock Lake in Dallas was a perfect choice for the session. White Rock Lake has over 1,000 acres to explore making backdrop options limitless. These two did such a wonderful job in front of camera! They were both so easy to work with and kept smiling throughout the entire session. Alec and Abigail mentioned that they probably be awkward in front of the camera but that definitely was not the case. Thanks for making my job easy, guys!

Q: TELL US YOUR FULL PROPOSAL STORY. WHEN AND HOW DID IT HAPPEN?

On September 18th, Alec was coming back into town after a visit home. My roommates had suggested getting dinner that night since some of their long distance boyfriends were in town for the weekend. Before dinner though, Alec and I had planned on studying on Texas A&M’s campus. Little did I know that Alec had called my roommate on the way home and said that plans had changed, he didn’t want to wait until the next weekend (when he had said we’d go on a nice date), and instead wanted to propose today. Before I went on campus, my roommates were encouraging me to look nicer for dinner and maybe do my hair and makeup, and it made me think something was up so I asked them point blank if I should do my nails. My roommate said no I didn’t need to, and from then on I fully believed he wasn’t proposing that day.

Alec picked me up from my house with my backpack on and hair in a ponytail and we went to campus. He decided to take the long way to our library and stopped by Academic Plaza, where we first met our freshman year. He got down on one knee and said to me—while my backpack was still on my back—“you wanna do this thing?”…or at least that’s all I can remember in the whirl of emotions. The rest is history!

Q: WHAT’S BEEN YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING ENGAGED?

We love being able to take our relationship more seriously and be more committed to each other. We can seek counsel from others as a couple, plan for our future, and look forward to a full life together!

Q: WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?

Don’t over complicate things and remember what the most important thing is: it’s a day of a beautiful union between two people! At the end of the day, you’ll be married, and that’s what matters.
