Second Professional Photographer for Weddings

Bride and groom sunset photo at the Grand Ivory wedding venue

I had the pleasure of serving as second professional photographer for JL Glamour Photography for this stunning wedding. This winter inspired wedding was held at the Grand Ivory in Leonard, Texas. I only second shoot a few times during wedding season but it always reminds me why it’s beneficial to include this service.

Why You Should Include A Second Professional Photographer For Your Wedding

#1

The second professional photographer can help capture moments that the couple isn’t privy to see. Prior to the ceremony, the bride is normally tucked away from guests. The second shooter can capture moments such as guest arrival and their interactions. They can also photograph the all of the details! The couple carefully selected details to create the perfect atmosphere. The second photographer can take care of this while the primary photographer captures the bride getting in her gown.

The lead photographer can only be in one location at a time. Normally, activities are happening at the same time like bride and groom getting ready. Having a second professional photographer allows both events to be captured simultaneously.

For this wedding, while Jennifer was photographing the bride and bridesmaids getting hair and makeup done, I captured the groom getting ready with his groomsmen. As Jennifer photographed family formals, I grabbed images of the bride and groom’s parents.

A second photographer can provide alternate angles throughout the day. I love having a second photographer to capture the back of the bride’s gown as she walks down the isle while I capture the groom’s reaction to the bride. Another great opportunity for a different angle is the first looks. The lead photographer will focus on the bride while the second photographer captures the groom’s reaction of the bride. Having multiple angles provide a complete story.
